residual current circuit breaker

Testing of residual current circuit breakers according to DGUV Regulation 3

FI circuit breaker (residual current circuit breaker) are life-saving components in every electrical system.
They protect people from dangerous electrical accidents and are required by law in many areas.
To ensure that they trigger reliably in an emergency, they must be checked regularly – we will do this for you after DGUV Regulation 3 and DIN VDE 0100-600 / 0105-100.

What does a residual current device do?

A residual current device detects fault currents, e.g. when current flows through the human body to earth, and switches off the circuit in milliseconds.
Areas of application:
Households, offices, public buildings
Construction sites & workshops
Hospitals, nursing homes
Industry & Commerce

Why is regular testing necessary?

To Risk of electric shock reliably avoid
To legal regulations to comply
To Insurance companies and authorities to be protected
To ensure that the FI works in an emergency

This is how the FI test works

Our qualified testers carry out the FI testing using calibrated test equipment in accordance with current standards:
Visual inspection
Check for visible damage, proper installation and marking
Trigger test
Testing the tripping time and current using a test button and simulation
documentation
Logging of measured values + affixing a test sticker with date

Inspection intervals for residual current circuit breakers

The frequency of testing depends on the location:
In offices & public buildings: every 6 to 12 months
On construction sites: every 3 months
After modifications or repairs: immediate retest
Recommended for private households: every 2 years
We will be happy to advise you on the optimal inspection period for your situation.
